There is no fee to attend this lecture but preregistration is required and seating is limited. This lecture is open to veterinarians and veterinary technicians.

Lecture description:

This two-hour lecture will review specific scientific articles published in peer-reviewed journals, focusing on gastrointestinal inflammatory disease. Topics discussed will include the use of ultrasound examination of the bowel, clinical decision making surrounding endoscopic vs. surgical biopsy of the bowel, and current management of chronic enteropathies in dogs and cats.

This lecture has been RACE-approved for 2.0 hours of CE for veterinarians and veterinary technicians.

Speaker bios:
Heidi White, DVM, DACVIM

Dr. White graduated from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. She completed a one-year internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Norwalk Veterinary Referral and Emergency Critical Care in Norwalk, CT and a 3-year residency in internal medicine at Tufts University. She became board certified in 2004. Her special interests include nephrology, endocrine disease and immune mediated diseases. While at Tufts University she did projects involving the use of human intravenous immunoglobulin in the treatment of immune mediated hemolytic anemia, feline asthma and spontaneous pneumothorax and the role of dietary soy in the development of feline hyperthyroidism. Noteworthy services provided by Dr. White include, but are not limited to endoscopy and ultrasonography.

Dianne Phillips, DVM, DACVIM

Dr. Phillips is originally from Nova Scotia, Canada. She received her undergraduate degree in Biology (with honors) from St. Francis Xavier University before pursing her veterinary degree at the Altlantic Veterinary College at the University of Prince Edward Island in Canada. After graduating in 1998, she completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery followed by a 3-year residency in small animal internal medicine at Kansas State University. Dr. Phillips was accepted into the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 2002. She has worked as a staff internist at Massachusetts Veterinary Referral Hospital since 2002. Her special interests include protein-losing kidney disease (including Lyme nephritis), chronic airway disease (including tracheal stent evaluation), as well as the medical treatment and evaluation of chronic illness in geriatric pets.
