2 CEU - A Complete Blood Count (CBC) requires microscopic evaluation of a blood film by a properly trained member of the veterinary care team. Creating diagnostic blood slides can sometimes be frustrating, but with a few tips – along with some practice – you can quickly become an expert. This two-hour lab will begin with proper sampling handling, slide prep, and use of the microscope. We will focus much of our time recognizing normal and abnormal morphology of erythrocytes, leukocytes and platelets. We will also discuss methods for estimation and differentiation of each of these blood components. We will be using canine and feline blood samples to walk through this process step by step.
