The Cost of Caring

In this workshop, participants will explore what emotional and physical costs can result from the caregiving work they do every day.  They will gain an understanding of the signs and symptoms of three states of emotional distress - chronic, prolonged stress; burnout; compassion fatigue - and their potential effects on an individual, as well as the entire healthcare team.  We will discuss practical ways to reduce one's risk of Burnout and Compassion Fatigue by developing a self-care plan that includes three essential aspects - Awareness, Balance, and Connection.  

Common Auto-Immune Diseases in Cats and Dogs

Presented by Tracey Nowers, CVT, VTS (CP-Canine/Feline, SAIM) - 1 hour/1CEU

This lecture discusses four common autoimmune diseases including clinical signs, diagnosis, treatment, and nursing care for these critical patients.
